New Features in Silk 4.0

Silk 4.0 is the result of a month's hard work. In fact, this new version is a complete rewrite of the original code base so I could implement the following much requested features. You asked. I delivered.

  • Editable body background color w/ color picker
  • Editable content border color w/ color picker
  • Editable content background color w/ color picker
  • Fluid width menu tabs support 11px to 24px font sizes
  • Menu tabs align left, center, or right
  • Logo auto-linked to base url
  • Wider layout options
  • Clear demarcation between sidebar menu and sidebar content
  • Independent font size controls for sidebar, content, and footer
  • Now supports up to 20 page banner images
  • Banner height variations from 100px to 300px
  • Now supports up to 6 menu levels


Improvements in Silk 4.1

I have released Silk 4.1. This is a free update for existing Silk users, and it remedies several issues that were found in Silk 4.0. Improvements in this update are:

  • Fixed “jumping” in site header that occurred during page load
  • Re-implemented header “shine” as was present in Silk 3
  • HTML lists in sidebar now display as expected in IE6
  • Added new color picker to control breadcrumb bar background-color
  • Added new theme variation to control opacity of breadcrumb bar background-color
  • Added new theme variation to disable shadow in site header that overlays the main menu tabs
  • Added Verdana to font theme variation
